Gregatron's POTW: Travelers Championship

Regular golf is back, yet again, at the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, CT. The Gregatron picks last week were more interested in watching the heavy weight duel of Koepka and Woodland down the stretch than making birdies. Really blew it there, not picking the 2-time defending champ, but I’ve learned my lesson for the next major. This week calls for boatloads of birdies, perhaps a round in the 50s and long drives. Who can reset from the tight fairways of Pebble Beach and go flag hunting?

Gregatron’s Pick of the Week: Paul Casey

The Englishman is putting together another solid season with a win and 4 other top-10s. He also finished 2nd here last year after a disappointing 72 on Sunday. It’s no surprise he likes this golf course. He’s 14th in driving accuracy, 17th in GIRs and 3rd in eagles this year. Whoever can hit the most greens this week will be near the top of the leaderboard, most likely chasing Paul Casey.

Back to the Range Bro: Phil Mickelson

Hartford’s prodigal son returns...well kind of. Phil used to play this event back when it was a mid-tier tournament. The fans are great and match well to the man of the people. He’s making his first start since 2004, so he might break off a bit of rust the first two rounds. He also hasn’t had a top-25 since the Masters. Phil’s looking for a confidence boost this week, but he needs to find a few more fairways to do so (203rd).
